Mom Review: Yakima "Gymnastics Plus" Offers a Fun, Affordable Afternoon
Have you ever had one of those days where you want to go do something with your kids but it’s either summer and way too hot outside or the middle of winter and way too cold outside? Or, like here in Ellensburg, where it gets so windy that you worry if you go outside your kids will simply blow away? For days like that, we like to look for other places to enjoy the afternoon that doesn’t involve so much sun-burn and frazzled hair. The other day we went and explored a new place to go that is indoors and tons of fun! After playing for only an hour, my two-year-old was asleep within two minutes of getting in the car to come home; now that’s what I call a win! We ventured down to Yakima to Gymnastics Plus where behind the gymnastics part of the building they have a different room that is home to what they call Kids Castle. It’s like a giant jungle gym with ramps to climb up, slides to go down, tunnels to run through and ball pits to jump into. It has two levels, and each level is enclosed so you don’t have to worry about your kid falling out of it unless somehow they fall down the slide or ramp going up.
It was closed for some time because they were renovating it but it’s now open again and very nice inside. Everything got deep cleaned and the carpets got replaced. I didn’t worry at all about my son running around playing on everything. He had a blast and the great thing was, that I could see him almost 100% of the time. There were a couple of areas that I couldn’t see him, but usually if I waited about two minutes, he was back in my view. There are tables and chairs in front of the castle so as a parent you can sit there and watch your kid play, and when they need to come have a snack they have a table to sit at.
One thing about the Kids Castle is that it is only for kids that are ages one to ten. So it’s a great place to take your little ones and not have to worry about them trying to play with bigger kids running around. It’s not an expensive place to go so it’s a fun indoor place to go without breaking the bank. Just remember to bring socks for the kids to run around in because they do ask you to wear them. They do have socks to purchase for $3 if you forget them. So next time you are at home needing to just let your kids run and climb on things, look at going to the Kids Castle and have a ton of fun there!
